When using a phone late at night, many people complain of eye fatigue. That’s not all; displays emit a bright blue light that can make it hard to sleep as well as create headaches and more. As a workaround, a number of apps, websites, and smart devices now offer dark mode.

What is Dark Mode?

The app’s color palette is changed to a darker landscape in Dark Mode (also referred to as night mode). You might also call it “bedtime mode” if you’re planning to use your computer late into the night without turning on any lights. Many other apps, including Snapchat, let you enable Dark Mode. Facebook is one of them.

It is feasible to use your phone or another smart device at night without causing eye strain or disrupting your sleep. It’s a shame that night mode isn’t available in every app; even some of the most popular ones haven’t yet included it.

Here’s how to turn on Snapchat’s dark mode, regardless of what other apps may be able to do.

How to Enable Dark Mode in Snapchat on iOS

Snapchat, a popular photo messaging and chatting software, is known for routinely introducing new functions. These new features keep users amused and entertained on a regular basis. In May of 2021, Snapchat’s iOS app was updated to include a dark mode. Here’s how to put it to work.

  1. Go to your profile on Snapchat by clicking your “Bitmoji” in the top left corner.
  2. Select the “Gear (Settings) Icon” in the top right.
  3. Scroll Down and select “App Appearance.
  4. Choose “Always Dark.”

How to Use Dark Mode in Snapchat on Android

As of February 2022, Snapchat has yet to deliver its promise of Dark Mode on Android devices. Maybe they found a problem that they can’t seem to fix. We’ll never find out. In any case, don’t give up hope.

Although Android Snapchat doesn’t have built-in Dark Mode, you can use a third-party app.

Using Snapchat’s settings to “force” Dark Mode is the first step in the process. To put it another way, this is how you go about it.

  1. Swipe down and select the “Gear” (Settings) icon in the top right.
  2. Choose “Display.”
  3. Enable “Dark Mode.”
  4. Go back to “Settings” and scroll all the way down, then choose “About Phone.”
  5. Select “Software Information.”
  6. Tap six times on “Build Number” to find it. After three clicks, you’ll see a “nearly there” message about developer mode. To activate developer mode, you’ll need to enter your password or code.
  7. Go Back to “Settings” and select the “Developer Options” that was just enabled.
  8. Scroll down and choose “Force Dark Mode.”

Snapchat’s Dark Mode can be forced with a couple of old-school methods for Android. One is the Substratum app, which can be installed and used in a matter of seconds. However, you must have a rooted Android device in order to use this software.

In addition to Snapchat’s Dark Mode, there is an app in the Play Store called Blue Light Filter that lets you adjust the brightness of your phone’s screen. Rooting your Android phone is not required to use the Blue Light Filter application, which functions as a layer of protection over the screen. This is a non-intrusive solution if you want to lessen the brightness of Snapchat.
