Step 1: Choose Envelope or Postcard

Size & Weight Determine Price
All envelopes must be completely flat. If your envelope cannot pass through automated processing equipment, it is considered nonmachinable and will cost you more to send. Items that cannot be machined include lumpy or rigid envelopes, as well as those with clasps, string, or buttons. Sending unusually shaped square or vertical envelopes will also cost more.
- Paper envelopes must be used.
- To qualify for letter prices, envelopes must be rectangular.
- Package prices will be applied to envelopes larger than letter size.
- To qualify for Flat Rate pricing, large envelopes must be rectangular.
- Postcards must be rectangular to qualify for First-Class Mail® prices.
- Oversized postcards will be charged as a letter or large envelope.
Step 2: Address Your Mail
To ensure that your mail is delivered on time, write or print your return address and the address you’re mailing to in the appropriate places.
Envelopes with addresses that are unclear or written in the wrong place may not get delivered.
- Print addresses neatly in capital letters.
- Use a pen or permanent marker.
- Do not use commas or periods.
- Include the ZIP+4® Code whenever possible.

Again, using Global Forever stamps is the most convenient way to send letters from the United States to Canada. There is, however, a distinction here.
As previously stated, this stamp will cover you for up to an ounce. While this is true for shipments to the United Kingdom (or any other international country), it is not true for shipments to Canada.
This stamp will cover you for up to two ounces in this location. However, after these two, you’ll need to add more stamps to make up for the difference in price.

International letter sending – the United States to the United Kingdom
This stamp will cover you for up to an ounce, as we mentioned earlier. While this is true for shipments to the United Kingdom (and any other international destination), it is not the case for shipments to Canada.
This stamp will cover up to two ounces in this situation. However, after these two, you’ll need to add more stamps to make up for the difference in price.

What happens if you send mail without a stamp?
It will come back to you for postage as long as you have your return address on it. If you don’t include a return address, the post office will attempt to collect postage from the recipient. It is sent to ‘dead letters’ if they refuse to pay postage and there is no return address.

It is slightly less expensive to send a postcard within the United States of America. Simply purchase a 35-cent Postcard Stamp and place it in the mailbox. You can, however, choose to overpay by purchasing a Domestic Forever Stamp. This is 55 cents, as you are aware.
Your postcard must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this stamp class:
- It has to be square. If it isn’t, different stamp rates and rules apply.
- Friends, it must be at least 3.5 inches tall by 5 inches long. It must have a thickness of at least 0.007 inches.
- It cannot exceed 4.25 inches in height and 6 inches in length.
- It can’t be more than 0.016 inches thick.
