TikTok is the hottest new video-sharing platform right now, and it’s got everyone wanting to try their hand at making their own music snippets with it. You’ve probably seen the commercials where users appear to be creating perfect musical clips while not holding their phones. How do they accomplish this? How do they make a TikTok video without pressing the record button? It’s actually quite simple.
If you follow along with us below, we’ll show you how to make your own TikTok video without having to hold the record button. Let’s get started.
Record without holding
Open TikTok on your iPhone or iPad first. It’s the app on your phone or tablet’s home screen with the white music icon against a black background. You can get it for free from the App Store if you don’t already have it.
Press the + button at the bottom of the screen once TikTok is open. Next, make sure your iPhone or iPad is in the right position for recording. You can use a tripod or prop it up against something to get the viewfinder in the desired position.
After you’ve figured out where you want to put everything, press the Timer button. This should be near the bottom of the right-hand side of the screen’s icon list.
Following that, a wave motion will appear. You can drag the line to the point where the recording should end automatically. When it reaches that set point, it will automatically stop recording you, but only after you press the Start Countdown button.
Finally, press the Countdown button to begin the countdown. This will countdown from 3…2…1… to give you time to get into position for the recording, and then it will record for the duration you specified in the previous step. Once you’re satisfied with your video, click the checkmark in the bottom right corner of the screen to edit it and add any effects you want.
When you’re done, tap the Post button to upload your video to the TikTok platform.
What about tap to shoot?
Tap To Shoot is another TikTok feature, but it isn’t available in all regions where TikTok is available. However, you may or may not notice this feature, but if you do, it’s very simple to use.
Open the TikTok app on your iPhone or iPad as described previously. If you don’t already have it, you can get it for free from your preferred app store. Then, at the bottom of the screen, click the + button.
The next step is to place your iPhone or iPad in the proper recording position. You should align the viewfinder with the area you want to record in. You can use a tripod or prop your iPhone or iPad up against something random.
We’ll change the Recording Mode instead of pressing the Timer button. This can be changed by adjusting the slider at the bottom of the viewfinder to say “Tap to shoot.” Moving the slider back to Long-press to shoot will restore it.
Simply press the record button once you’ve set it to Tap to shoot. TikTok will then record the video until you stop it by tapping the button again. When you’re finished recording, press the button once more to stop, and then press the checkmark button in the bottom right corner of the screen to proceed to the next step.
We can use different effects, covers, and filters to make the video unique, just like we did before. When you’re finished, press Next, and then Post to share it on your TikTok profile.
That’s everything there is to it! As you can see, recording a TikTok video without holding your phone or the recording button is quite simple. Shooting the perfect TikTok can be challenging, but with a few tries, you’ll be a pro in no time! Even if the Tap to Shoot option isn’t available in your area, getting used to the regular timer won’t take long.
