Dr. Pepper is a subsidiary of Keurig Dr. Pepper, a larger corporation. It was initially owned by Mondelez, an American bottler and confectioner, and JAB Holdings, an Austrian company. This larger corporate entity also owns Snapple, Cinnabon, Keurig, Canada Dry, and Kahlua, among many other brands.

Surprisingly, Keurig Dr. Pepper is the seventh-largest beverage manufacturer in the United States. It employs over 25,000 people and operates more than 100 distribution centers across the country.

Dr. Pepper has a complicated relationship with major soft drink corporations such as Coke and Pepsi. Previously, the Coca-Cola company attempted to buy, but antitrust issues prevented this merger from taking place. In any case, Coke owns some of the rights to distribute Dr. Pepper in various parts of the world, including Europe and South Korea.

Why the name Dr Pepper?

Morrison may have already named the cocktail after the doctor thanked him for his first commission. Morrison named the drink after Charles T.
