It’s critical for a graphic design platform known for its logo maker to get its own logo right.
And it appears that Canva has – at least according to those who have noticed a difference. The company quietly updated its platform’s logo this week and only announced the change a few days later.
Some users claim to have noticed the new logo right away – and they love it.
Others are still perplexed as to what the distinction is.
but this may be part of the logo’s success in this case.

The new design has what appear to be very small tweaks to the script typography.
as well as a dazzling turquoise to the purple gradient that blends quite nicely with Canva’s existing logo.
That strong connection to the old identity makes it feel extremely familiar while yet looking sleeker and more modern, which is perhaps why some users have been scratching their heads, asking what’s changed.

To summarize, it did not simply replace its logo using a template from its own logo generator.
Rob Clarke, a type designer, and lettering artist were brought in to improve the legibility of the logo’s script, notably the two ‘a’.
